The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, met today in Banja Luka with a delegation from the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), led by the Director of the company for Central and Southeast Europe, Yang Dong.

The meeting focused on the reconstruction of a section of the main road from Foča to Šćepan Polje and the memorandum recently signed between the Government of the Republic of Srpska and CRBC.

The Prime Minister Višković emphasized that this section is crucial for the Republic of Srpska and and that one of the Government’s priorities is the reconstruction of this main road which serves as a vital link between the Republic of Srpska and Montenegro.

He underscored that the Republic of Srpska is ready to move forward into the second phase of implementing the memorandum, aiming to sign contracts for financing and implementation soon, thereby enabling construction work to commence on the ground.

The Prime Minister stated that the project for the reconstruction of this road has been completed, creating the necessary conditions for commencement of the works, pending the approval of financial resources for construction as soon as possible.

Yang Dong, the General Director of CRBC for Central and Southeast Europe, mentioned that his company is actively negotiating with “Roads of the Republic of Srpska” to finalize all details. He emphasized CRBC’s understanding of the project’s importance for the Republic of Srpska and expressed confidence that all documentation will soon be prepared for the commencement of construction work on the ground.

The memorandum outlines plans for the construction of approximately 15 kilometers of the Foča-Šćepan Polje main road, which totals about 20 kilometers in length. The Government of the Republic of Srpska has already completed the initial phase covering the first five kilometers.

The Minister of Finance Zora Vidović and Acting Director of “Roads of the Republic of Srpska” Milan Dakić were also present at the meeting.
