The President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik has attended today the commemoration of 31 years since the breakthrough of the Corridor at Duga Njiva near Modriča.
The President of the Republic of Srpska said that the result of this great victory was the Serb people’s freedom.
“Today we mark our great victory, and there is no victory that we have achieved throughout history that did not involve suffering, nonetheless victory is worth it when the results remain behind it, and the result of this victory of ours is our freedom”, said the President of Srpska.
The President Dodik pointed out that this is the corridor that Serb soldiers broke through and marked the borders of the Republic of Srpska, adding that Srpska, which was supposed to be connected territorially with Serbia, was one of the goals of the Defensive Patriotic War.
The President of the Republic stated that the Republic of Srpska remains committed to marking dates related to the Defensive Patriotic War, recalling that today the breakthrough of the Corridor has been marked, which was called the “Corridor of Life”, which it really was.
“Then the soldiers of the Krajina Corps and the Bijeljina Corps connected the Republic of Srpska and early established the contours of Srpska”, said the President of Srpska.
The President Dodik said that many had given their lives, and 12 Banja Luka babies died because they did not have the freedom to receive oxygen, which was supposed to come from Serbia, and that was one of the main motives for commanders Momir Talić and Novica Simić to plan action together with the Police of the Republic of Srpska Krajina.
“Today we are here to say that we are continuing, that the commemoration of such events is an opportunity to say that we have not forgotten the way in which we were blocked, that we have not forgotten our babies and how hard it is to achieve freedom, and that freedom also means sacrifices”, said the President of the Republic of Srpska.
