Today, the President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, met with French senators in Paris.
The President of the Republic of Srpska informed the French senators that German Christian Schmidt, who lacks legitimacy and legality, is attempting to reshape the constitutional order in BiH. He stated that if Schmidt intervenes regarding property issues, the Republic of Srpska will have no choice but to defend its status by declaring independence.
“We will do so. What is important is that today we spoke with people who wanted to hear about this, which is not common. I am grateful to this group of senators, who come from different political parties, because they wanted to hear about the situation and had their own opinions on it. They will soon come to BiH and discuss with other factors. We presented our views and stated that BiH should return to the Constitution, cease interventionism, and have foreigners withdraw”, emphasized the President Dodik.
The President stated that he briefed the senators on the situation in Srpska and BiH, as well as in the Balkans, adding that he is confident that his visit to the Senate will achieve the desired effect.
“My primary concern was to be objective; we did not come here to seek favoritism based on any criteria”, the President of Srpska emphasized.
The President Dodik said he reiterated the well-known positions of the Republic of Srpska, particularly that illegitimate Schmidt, upon receiving negotiator status for BiH, jeopardized the entire process and brought it to a complete standstill, intending to complicate the situation further through property legislation.
“We stated that intervention in the BiH Election Law is unacceptable and will block further progress in BiH until he withdraws or the Parliamentary Assembly rejects it”, stated the President of the Republic.
The President of Srpska conveyed that if this does not happen, the Republic of Srpska will enact its laws and continue in accordance with the Constitution and the BiH Election Law, which stipulates that the Central Election Commission conducts only elections for members of the BiH Presidency and the House of Representatives of BiH.
The President Dodik emphasized that France plays a positive role regarding the situation in BiH.
“We know that France, in the international negotiation process regarding Schmidt’s intention to make final decisions, was against it, and we appreciate that. However, their opposition was not enough, as there are other major countries that were in favor and have their own positions”, concluded the President of the Republic of Srpska.
