The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković said at the ceremony marking the beginning of the construction of a new hospital in Trebinje that the implementation of that project represents the continuation of the Republic's investment in the health sector, which will be continued.

The Prime Minister Višković stated that the Republic of Srpska has been continuously building health facilities and investing in new equipment and the health system of the Republic of Srpska throughout the Republic of Srpska for the past decade.

He pointed out that by building a new hospital in Trebinje, the Government of Srpska is fulfilling its promise, recalling that the contract with the contractor for the construction of that hospital was signed on February 9.

“As of today, the deadline of 30 months for the completion of this facility runs. I am sure and the contractors have promised that they will build this hospital before that deadline, and you, all the citizens of Herzegovina who have earned it all these years, will be able to use this facility”, emphasized the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska.

He said that the dozens of top medical experts, present at today's ceremony in Trebinje, are a guarantee that the young doctors of the Republic will be trained to be top experts, who will work in the new hospital and provide the people of Herzegovina with highest quality healthcare.

“We have built from the Clinical Center, which we are still developing, to hundreds of millions - hospitals in Bijeljina, East Sarajevo, Foča. We are here now, but we will not end with Trebinje either, in the next period we will go towards Prijedor, Gradiška, because our people there also deserve to receive the same conditions as the others”, the Prime Minister Višković pointed out.

He wished the citizens of Herzegovina to use the new facilities in the best possible way and not have to leave Trebinje to look for health facilities in other places.

The new hospital in Trebinje will be built in the settlement of Pridvorci, and the total value of designing, building and equipping this turnkey healthcare facility is 128.448.448 KM including VAT.

Funds for the construction of the new hospital will be provided from the budget of the Republic of Srpska, and this project represents one of the most significant undertakings of the Government of Srpska in the healthcare system.

Today's ceremony on the occasion of the start of the construction of the new hospital in Trebinje was attended by the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik, the Minister of Health of Srpska Alen Šeranić, the Minister of Health of Serbia Danica Grujičić and His Eminence Bishop Dimitrije of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and Primorje.

The Mayor of Trebinje Mirko Ćurić, the Director of Trebinje Hospital Nedeljko Lambeta, the Director of “Elektroprivreda Srpske” Luka Petrović, mayors of Herzegovinian municipalities, representatives of the political and economic life of Herzegovina and numerous citizens were also present.
