The members of the BiH Presidency met with US Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried, who paid a visit to the Western Balkans countries.
The topic of discussion was the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the reform processes and bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.
The members of the Presidency of BiH thanked the Government of the United States of America for its constant support to the reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They welcomed the numerous projects implemented by the US Government in order to provide assistance to the social and economic sector in BiH.
The Assistant Secretary of State Donfried reiterated the United States’ commitment to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, multiethnic character and Euro-Atlantic perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina. She called for the participation of all levels of government in reforms that would ensure the EU candidate status for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Assistant Secretary of State Donfried emphasized the partnership and active role of the US Government in constructive dialogue and reforms through numerous US institutions and organizations present in BiH.
The members of the BiH Presidency reiterated their commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path, dialogue through the reform process and the fight against corruption, in order to progress and improve lives of all citizens.
The interlocutors also discussed the holding of general elections in October this year, and the presence of the ALTHEA Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
