As part of his visit to the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Višković, has met today in Trieste with the President of this region, Massimiliano Fedriga.

The President of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Massimiliano Fedriga, emphasized during the meeting that Italy's strategy is to move production and production activities from distant regions to areas near Italy, which opens up a great chance and opportunity for cooperation between Italian regions and Republic of Srpska.

The Prime Minister Višković pointed out that during the past years, Italian companies found their place for business and investments in the Republic of Srpska, and added that more than 15 Italian companies are currently operating in the Republic of Srpska. 

He emphasized that the Italian company PMP, as one of the most important Italian investors, plans to expand operations and investments in Laktaši.

“The region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the most developed economic areas in Italy, and we are trying to transfer their successful experiences to the Republic of Srpska. A large number of companies want to organize their production from distant regions in Europe, and we see this as our advantage and a great chance for development”, stressed the Prime Minister Višković.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister presented the potentials of the Republic of Srpska, economic indicators, tax rates and energy prices, which are of great interest to businessmen from this region. In addition, the Prime Minister invited investors from the Italian regions to visit the Republic of Srpska with their businessmen and choose it for the expansion of business and investments. 

The support of the Government of the Republic of Srpska in creating a favorable business environment and ensuring stability, which provides security and confidence to Italian businessmen, was strongly highlighted.

The Prime Minister Radovan Višković emphasized that cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Italian regions already brought positive results, but that there is enormous potential for further growth and prosperity. 

During the meeting, Luigino Pozzo, the owner of the PMP company, which has a factory in Gradiška and is opening a new one in Laktaši, presented their business plans for expanding operations in the Republic of Srpska.

He pointed out that the Republic of Srpska is a good place for investments, stressing that, by their example, they want to contribute to the cooperation between this Italian region and the Republic of Srpska.    

The Prime Minister Višković emphasized the importance of this region in Italy, underlining that the Republic of Srpska has had an agreement on cooperation with Friuli-Venezia Giulia since 2010. 

Italy is the second largest foreign investor in the Republic of Srpska and an important foreign trade partner of the Republic of Srpska, and numerous foreign investors from Italy operate in the Republic of Srpska (such as Calzedonia, Lattonedil, PMP Industry, etc.).
