The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Radovan Višković attended the celebration of the national holiday of the Russian Federation - Defender of the Fatherland Day in Sarajevo tonight, at the invitation of the Ambassador of Russia to BiH, Igor Kalabukhov.

The Prime Minister Višković extended congratulations on the national holiday to the Russian Ambassador Kalabukhov and emphasized the good relations between the Republic of Srpska and Russia.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Serbian people will never forget their friends and what Russian diplomat Vitaly Churkin did for the Serbian people at the UN Security Council when he vetoed the British resolution claiming that Serbs are a genocidal nation.

“We never forget and appreciate every support that is provided to us in crucial moments, and throughout our history, Russia has always been there for us”, said Višković.

Defender of the Fatherland Day is one of the greatest Russian holidays, commemorating the first mass recruitment into the Red Army in Petrograd and Moscow on February 23, 1918, as well as the first combat action against the German occupying army. This holiday symbolizes the heroic history of the state, unity of the people and the army, glory, and patriotism of the Russian military.
